| How is it
impossible? Hovind has written in his $250,000 offer: *NOTE: 1. Time, space, and matter
came into existence by themselves. source: http://www.drdino.com/Ministry/250k/index.jsp This requirement is absurd because it requires proving a negative, and by it's very nature is impossible. In essence, you would have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that God not only didn't create the universe or anything in it, but that God couldn't have done it. Since an infinite, omnipotent, omniscient being can obviously do anything it likes, including using "naturalistic" or "theistic" evolution to develop the panoply of life, you logically have to prove, by empirical evidence, that God doesn't exist at all in order to meet Hovind's terms. Clearly this is, as it is no doubt intended to be, an impossible task. [As many Christian theists have been the first to insist, the only way one could know definitively that God did not exist would be to be absolutely omniscient and omnipresent; in other words, to be God oneself. --Ed.] When Hovind speaks in churches and debates, he often brags on the fact that no one has won his offer. Since his offer by it's very nature is impossible (which he admits) it's misleading and dishonest to use the challenge to make a point. --- |
| How is it flawed? The general theory of evolution does not state that any events took place with out a God. Hovind argues that since the evolutionary process is naturalistic (which all scientific processes are) and has no mention of a deity, it must deny the existence of a deity. This logic is flawed, for ALL scientific process and laws do not speak of a deity. example: The theory of gravity does not speak of a deity, therefore it's atheistic. ------------------------------------------------------------- |

| Hovind indirectly admits his offer is
impossible. David:
To disprove a deity, do you think it's possible? David: So you're conceding your challenge is impossible? Hovind: Uh, I believe it's impossible to prove the evolution theory is true... David: Yeah, I know, I understand that *Hovind continues to go off topic by bringing up evolution, when my point was about the impossibility of his challenge. --- |

:: transcript :: Hovind indirectly admits his offer is flawed. David: So you think that
the the theory of evolution denies a deity all together, like it
actually is incorporated in the theory? David: (interrupts) Then why do you have it in your challenge? You have that written in your challenge. Hovind: Well because, like I said, it's my challenge I can make it anyway I want... David: (laughs) Yeah I know, but if you just admitted on the air that your challenge has a flaw it, and your going to continue to do it regardless.... Hovind: I didn't say the challenge had a flaw! --- |
